This curriculum module examines permanency planning in Indian child welfare. It introduces the Indian child welfare (ICW) worker to the principles, concepts, and skills used in ensuring that children are provided with continuity in their lives and a sense of belonging over time. This module is designed to provide the Indian child welfare worker with an understanding of historical and cultural context within which permanency planning is applied. It provides an overview of permanency planning and the essential elements for its implementation. The goal of Module V is to enhance the capacity of the Indian child welfare worker to perform permanency-planning functions in the context of the Indian culture.
